MMOexp Diablo IV: These issues have fueled growing anger

This UI choice isn’t just frustrating-it’s dangerous for those who click quickly or don’t read carefully.

This UI choice isn’t just frustrating-it’s dangerous for those who click quickly or don’t read carefully. And it gets worse for Diablo IV Gold console users. A player using a controller discovered that the button used to “claim” rewards initially can change mid-process to “buy with Platinum,” while the claim-with-tokens option shifts to a different button entirely. This unintuitive input swap means even veteran players can mistakenly spend real money with a single press.

These issues have fueled growing anger, but they aren’t the only problems with the system. The way Reliquary bundles are sold has also raised eyebrows. Players can buy each of the three premium Reliquaries individually for 500 Platinum each, or all three together for 1,500 Platinum. However, there’s a hidden “Battle Pass Bundle” that offers all three for just 1,000 Platinum-a significant discount.

But here’s the catch: if you buy even one Reliquary at the individual price before finding the bundle, the 1,000 Platinum deal is locked. You’re then forced to buy the remaining Reliquaries at full price. This penalizes players who didn’t research their options in advance or clicked too quickly, reinforcing the perception that the system is built to manipulate and extract.

Then comes the Deluxe Bundle, which costs 2,800 Platinum-almost $30 worth. For that price, players get access to the same armor set already available in the 1,000 Platinum bundle, plus a pet and a pair of wings. That’s it. No bonus cosmetics, no extra premium currency, no unique gameplay features. The price-to-content ratio is among the worst Blizzard has offered in Diablo 4 to date.

The community’s response has been swift and unified: the new system is poorly designed, exploitative, and significantly less generous than the original battle pass. Feedback poured in on Reddit, Twitter, and YouTube, with players sharing their stories of accidental purchases, miscommunications, and general dissatisfaction.

To their credit, Blizzard acknowledged the backlash. During a Campfire Chat livestream, the developers said they were aware of the community’s discontent and were evaluating changes. However, they confirmed that nothing would be changed for Season 9, meaning the current structure will remain for Diablo 4 materials at least one more full season.
